Capgemini's Sander Hoogendoorn wrote a blog about how he was overwhelmed by the complexity of Release Management in complex global environments that included SAP. He called it Death by Landscape. Rightfully so?
Many vendors of packaged solutions deliver their own reference architecture which is aimed at their own product stack. This can be a pain if you have a best-of-breed application landscape because how can you compare the various stacks offered by those vendors? To this end, there now is a common rereference model available.
